In July 2022, we celebrated the Summer season by looking at the world of William Shakespeare, and in particular the play: A Midsummer Night's Dream. 

The whole school listened to and watched the story, and then created a variety of different responses in English to the text. We also created art and other cross-curricular pieces of work linked to the play, Shakespeare and the Tudor age.

During the week Reception created labelled maps of the fairy kingdom as well as paintings of themselves as a magical animal (just like Bottom!) and fairy puppets. 

 

Year One wrote some beautiful love poetry about people and things they care about, as well as creating some fabulous lollypop fairies!

 

 

Year Two, created an incredible display of work, including write about fairy spells and what they are proud of about themselves. You can also see they created some wonderful paintings of William Shakespeare, retold the story and set the scene for the story. 

 

Year Three, created fairy scenes and wrote descriptions of the fairy forest. 

Year Four, designed and created costumes based on the fairy characters, they also wrote storyboards of the story to help make it easier to follow!

Year Five, wrote newspaper reports on the story of A Midsummer Night's dreams events, they also created their own Tudor portraits using the fab Purple Mash technology on the Chrome Books.

 

Year Six, wrote love poetry and created watercolour paintings of some of the events of the story.
