History at St Peter's

History at St Peter’s intends to prepare every child for their future, it will, at the same time be giving all students a broad, balanced and diverse view of the history of Britain, other societies and eras.

In this, students will develop a well-rounded knowledge of the past and its events, and the intention to improve every student’s awareness of their own and others heritage and cultural capital. In St Peter’s history aims to encourage critical thinking, analysis skills and empathy. In addition, skills for historical enquiry are worked on as children progress through the school, through interesting and engaging activities, trips, visitors and immersive experiences. Questioning the past with intrigue and interest will help develop pupils for their futures.
